About Wunder Brewing Co.

Wunder Brewing Company was a San Francisco Brewery back from 1896 to 1909. Originally the Bavaria Brewery, it changed its name to Wunder Brewing Company with the addition of their president John C. Wunder, who arrived from his native Bavaria, Germany in 1898. The original San Francisco Wunder Brewing Company was located at the intersection of Greenwich and Scott Streets from 1896 to 1909. Damaged after the Great Earthquake and Fire, Wunder Brewing was purchased in 1909 by Union Brewing & Malting. An additional iteration of the company existed at 2119 Linden St. in Oakland making sodas during and after prohibition

Like San Francisco's symbol, the Phoenix, Wunder Brewing Company has risen. Four native sons and long time friends have revived the venerable San Francisco brewery name with one goal in mind: serve great beer with fantastic food, and do it in true San Francisco style, offering friendly and superior service in a comfortable atmosphere.

Our main goal is to make a quality beer that you will enjoy. A good beer takes time, and we will only release a batch under our name when we are 100% sure it is ready. To rush a good beer would be an insult to the craft.
